A Matter of Death and Life.

When, in 2019, Marilyn Yalom was diagnosed with a serious, life-threatening
illness, the Yaloms decided to write a book together that would capture the
reflections of a couple who have been married for sixty-five years and „who
have the great good fortune to have each other on a journey that ultimately
leads to death“ (M.Y., p. 7).
Despite the unquestionable thematic seriousness, the book has a somewhat hopeful
tone too. Old age, death and grief are part of life, but it is possible to find
love, meaning and reconciliation in them.
